“I have not departed from the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.” Job 23:12
This is one of my favorite verses “about” the Bible. (I actually commented on this Verse back in May!) Job, in the midst of his pain and affliction, and the torture of well-meaning friend’s counsel, makes this amazing confession. Why would he do this? In his argument, he says some pretty amazing things; “Oh that I knew where I might find Him”, and “Behold, I go forward but He is not there, and backward, but I cannot perceive Him” to show the Mystery of God’s Presence.
Then, “But He knows the way I take”, “I have kept His way and not turned aside”, and “I have not departed from the command of His lips” to show God’s Omniscience! And of course, Today’s Verse. These Facts about Job’s Life and how he valued God’s Word was nothing new to God! If Christians today learned to live by this Truth, the Church would be a Bright and Glorious Light!
So where does the Word of God sit in your priorities? What did you do first thing this morning? Will you read your Bible today? Such a simple task, and yet, what a Fight sometimes to do it. May God give us Grace to make His Word the most important part of our life!
