“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, humble, and mounted on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” Zechariah 9:9
As most that read this know, this is the Prophecy regarding Christ’s Triumphant entry. Did you know, All 4 Gospel Writers record this story? We also know that 2 of them quote this passage. I don’t know about you, but I find it fascinating how much about Christ is foretold in the Old Testament. It truly did leave the Jews of His time Without Excuse!
Consider what we are told; to Rejoice Greatly; to Shout in Triumph! Why? Our King is coming! What’s so special about that? “He is Just”, He is “Endowed with Salvation”, and He is “Humble”. Everything the Jews then, and we now, would want in a King. He was “the Judge” back then. That was one of his primary duties, so above all, you wanted him to judge “Justly”. He was “endowed”, or clothed, “with salvation”. Here we see His Mercy towards those He conquers and rules over. He was “Humble”. Though a King is often the wealthiest and most powerful person in the Kingdom, “He” is known for His Humility.
What else can be said but “Rejoice Greatly”?
Great truth, John!!
Thanks!
