Read Romans 4-7

“May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?” Romans 6:2

As the Apostle Paul continues to argue the principles of the Gospel in his Letter to the Romans, he asks them a Question in Verse 1 meant to keep their minds engaged; “Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase?” You see, he has just stated in Chapter 5, right before this Verse; “but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more”. So that Question in Verse 1 has some meaning behind it. I hope you can see that.

Well, his answer is both emphatic and conclusive; “May it never be!” In the King James it reads, “God Forbid!” He then asks a question that has only one answer, “How shall we who died to sin still live in it?” We Can’t!!! Now, this is not to say that the True Christian never sins! He Does! It is saying that Sin “will no longer Reign”, “will no longer be the Master”, and “will no longer be the dominating force in his life”. If it is, then the answer is simple, “You Are Not A Christian”! This is “Why” having a correct understanding of “The Gospel” is SO CRUCIAL!
