“O how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.” Psalm 119:97
Psalm 119, besides being the longest Chapter in the Bible, is a Psalm dedicated to the Word of God. Almost every Verse in it has a word that describes the Law or an allusion to it. Today’s Verse helps us understand why the psalmist would write a song like this; He Loved It! In essence, he writes 176 Verses, or reasons, why he does, and why we should. But before he could do so, what did he need to do? He needed to hear and/or read it. He had to be familiar with it, so much so, he could say definitively, “O how I love Your law!”
But is this reality true for just the psalmist? No! It is true of every one of God’s People! It is a sign of the New Covenant. God says “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it”!
