Read Psalm 11-15

“Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases to be, for the faithful disappear from among the sons of men.” Psalm 12:1

Again, by way of Introduction (I promise I will be more brief today), the Book of Psalms is unlike any other Book in the Bible. It is actually a Collection of Songs, which were, and are still today, sung by the People of God. Each Psalm stands by itself, and each one is unique! There are also several Authors; David being the primary one, but also include Asaph, Korah and Sons, Moses, and Solomon.

In Psalm 12, we see that David is the Author, and in many ways, the example to us of the “Everyday Christian”. As you read about his life, you are struck by his honesty and transparency; which helps us to have someone like him to relate to. Here in today’s Psalm, he is crying out to God because of what he sees in the world around him. He lives among those that confess to be God’s People, but no longer reflect Him or love Him. So in essence, what does he do? He cries out to God for Revival!

We live in a similar time. As we look at the Church today, we can say the same thing. Where are “the godly”? Where are “the faithful”? Today, perhaps more than any other time in the history of the Church, we need Revival!!! May God help us all to be more like David!
