Read Proverbs 7-9

“I love those who love me; and those who diligently seek me will find me.” Proverbs 8:17

Proverbs is filled with allusions to Wisdom; here in Chapter 8, she is personified. In today’s Verse, she makes 2 statements; consider the 2nd, “those who diligently seek me will find me”. We’re told in previous chapters that Wisdom is more valuable than gold, silver, jewels, or “anything we desire”, and yet most of Mankind seeks for these separately. Why is that?

We are told in Chapter 9 that “The fear of the Lord is the ‘beginning’ of wisdom”. This “diligent” search we undertake to find Wisdom begins with Fearing God. We’re also told in Verse 13 that “the fear of God is to hate evil”. Someone who is still wed to his Sin, will Never seek after True Wisdom.

But the promise is there for the Believer “IF” he will be diligent! May God make us all so!!!
