“Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.” Proverbs 26:12
Each time I read through Proverbs, this verse screams out something new. Today’s thoughts: Fool is referenced 72 times in Proverbs, 10 of them in the 11 verses prior to today’s; Solomon uses very harsh terms to describe the Fool or warn about him; David says “The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God”” Very Serious Stuff!
And yet, AND YET, He says there is more hope for a Fool than “a man wise in his own eyes”. OUCH!!! This describes me, my generation, and all those since then. This is a Damning Indictment and shows us How Much We Need Grace! How much we need the Mind of Christ, Humility, Counsel, Help from Others! Oh, may God be with us all as we seek to put to death our Pride!!!
