“Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”” Matthew 14:28
Jesus has just finished feeding the 5,000. He sends the Disciples off in the boat, disperses the crowd, and ventures up the mountain to pray. In the wee hours of the morning we’re told “He came to them, walking on the sea.” When the Disciples see Him we’re told “they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!”” Jesus calms their Fears and says “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid”, and that is where today’s Verse comes in.
You know the story. Jesus tells Peter to “Come”, he gets out of the boat, and begins to walk on the water. But no sooner is he doing something none of us has done, he sees the storm raging, becomes frightened, and begins to sink. He then cries out, “Lord, save me!” So, Jesus reaches out His hand to save him, and as He does says to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Just one overriding Lesson today. If Jesus has truly saved us, then He has called us “to walk on the water”; to DO the impossible! Paul tells us, “we were dead in our Sin”, but God “made us alive together with Christ”. You Were Dead, but now, You Are Alive! That, my friend, is a Miracle! So, when we look around us, and see this World’s Storm raging, we Must take Courage. We Must have Faith. Jesus IS with us, and we have Nothing to Fear!!!
