“But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.” Luke 12:5
Absolutely Devastating! Those are the words I must use from my Bible Reading this morning. This Verse is part of it, but from the beginning of Chapter 12 to the end of Chapter 14, the effect has been Spot On; Luke’s Arrows have found their marks today. I would encourage you: Please, take time to read these Chapters. We all need that Slap in the Face from time to time, and now may be that time for you! But, onward to Today’s Verse.
We’re told that “when a crowd of many thousands had gathered”, “Jesus began to speak first to his disciples” and warned them of the Leaven of the Pharisees; Hypocrisy. He then says “I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more”, and then Today’s Verse. Here, Jesus teaches us a couple of things: we should not Fear Man, we should not Fear Death, we should “Fear God”! Now to some, that may sound contradictory, but it is not. The “Fear of God” is a central theme to the entire Bible. We just don’t hear much about it today.
Be that what it may, I would strongly encourage you to make note of this as you do your daily Bible Reading, ask yourselves these two questions: What is the Fear of God, and,…Do I have it?
If WE, as the People of God, are “Not to Fear Man”, but instead, Fear God, then we really need to know what that is. Godspeed as you do!!!
