Read Lamentations 3-5

“This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail.” Lamentations 3:21-22

Sandwiched between 4 very depressing Chapters comes Chapter 3. It is Jeremiah’s Prayer. As Jeremiah pours out his soul in agony and grief, we find this oasis of comfort and peace. He begins with sad confession, then slowly builds to a crescendo of hopeful expectation where he proclaims “The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease!”

Many of us know of this passage because we sing the Hymn so often, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”. When we consider the context of where it dwells, it takes on new meaning. Fellow Christian, no matter how Hard, Difficult, Painful, and Crushing the load you must bear right now is, I can assure you, Jeremiah’s was far greater! And what was his source of Comfort and Strength? GOD!!! Though He is the Author of our Trials and Afflictions, He is also the Great Comforter! May He be that for your soul today!
