“So Peter seeing him said to Jesus, “Lord, and what about this man?”” John 21:21
In this last chapter of John, we have a conversation between Peter and Jesus that deserves comment. Peter has just been admonished three times to Care for the Sheep. Jesus has kindly and patiently asked him “Do you love Me?”, reflective of the three times he had denied Him. Then He proceeds to tell him what awaits him in his latter days. How does he respond? He doesn’t appear broken does he? He responds by asking, “What about him Lord?” pointing to John.
But isn’t this true of us as well? God is doing a dramatic work in us to make us more like Jesus, and we are jealously wondering why others don’t have to suffer like us! This is SO WRONG!!! God, our Father, has His Perfect Plan worked out to bring Himself maximum Glory…through us. In Ephesians 2:10 we’re told, “we are His Masterpiece”! We need to trust Him more and get our eyes off of others. May we hear Jesus’ Rebuke when this happens, “what is that to you?”!
