Read John 16-18

“These things I have spoken to you so that you may be kept from stumbling.” John 16:1

As I mentioned in Yesterday’s Post, John Chapters 14-17 are called the “Farewell Discourse”. Today’s Verse appears quite appropriately in the “center” of this Discourse. Jesus knew what Trials and Tribulations the Disciples would face in the Hours and Days ahead, and was doing His best to prepare them! The Words He was sharing would become their “Foundation” as He had shared in the Sermon on the Mount a couple of years earlier.

Thomas Paine reflected during the Revolution, “These are the times that try men’s souls.” A similar sentiment could be declared today, especially for God’s People. How relevant and needful Jesus’ Words are! So, in light of that Christian, have you taken time to sit at His feet and hear Him this morning? When the World around us continues to appear more “Insane” each day, do you find the Help and Strength you need in “those things He has spoken”? This is why we have His Word. Later in the Chapter, Jesus says, “In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” Take Up And Read!
