“And when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men his anger burned.” Job 32:5
And then there was Elihu… What…A…Character!!! If you’ve read or studied Job, you know what I’m talking about. As the story of Job unfolds, we have his 3 “well-meaning” Friends, all trying to help him find his way. At some point, Elihu arrives on the scene and waits his turn to speak. So here, in Today’s Verse, we have Elihu’s reaction to Job’s Friends and the beginning of his Narrative. This will actually carry on to the end of Chapter 37!
So, what can we say about this man? At times he speaks very biblically and wisely; at other times we are forced to ask “Say What?” Initially, he comes across very humble; almost to the point of Excess. Later on, he actually makes the statement “One who is perfect in knowledge is with you”! And then, to sum it all up; in the end, God does not condemn him!
Fascinating book the Bible! It’s filled with Treasure that requires a lifetime to mine. Sometimes, the Gold or Gems are right there staring back at you. Other times, you dig and dig, sift and sort, and after much time you find those Valued Nuggets. And then a Story like Elihu comes along and makes you just sit back and scratch your head! May God give us Help and Wisdom as we do!
