Read Job 15-18

“I have heard many such things; Sorry comforters are you all.” Job 16:2

So far in this Amazing Book, we’ve seen a glimpse of what can take place under God’s Sovereign Control. Isn’t it staggering to consider a Heavenly Meeting where Satan himself is present strategizing the course of One of God’s Own? Every time I read that story it just “Blows My Mind”! Then, the carrying out of that Task; the loss of most of his Worldly Goods and all his children.

So, here in Chapter 16, Job has finished hearing each of his 3 friends respond; both to his Affliction, and his Personal Perspective of it. Today’s Verse summarizes his reaction. As stated previously, each of these men sat with Job for 7 days in silence to grieve with him; they even “raised their voices and wept”. Initially, they appeared to be caring and concerned friends. But when the time came for what Job really needed, Comfort, not Counsel, they Failed!!!

Thus far in the Book of Job, we see 2 things that can’t be over emphasized. They are truly Life Lessons. The 1st, Choose your friends well. When times get hard, you don’t want these kind! And 2nd, if you are one of those Friends, “Be quick to hear and Slow to speak”.
