“Is not My word like fire?” declares the Lord, “and like a hammer which shatters a rock?” Jeremiah 23:29
Here, God is addressing the False Prophets “who prophesy falsely in My name, saying, ‘I had a dream, I had a dream!” He then declares Today’s Verse to reveal their deceit. Obviously, their words weren’t like Fire or a Hammer. Though not the only characteristic associated with Jeremiah’s Preaching, they were often, and accomplished the burning and shattering Israel needed to hear.
This begs the question; does this describe God’s Word to you? It should; in 2 ways! 1st, if the Gospel has truly come to you, this is descriptive of what needs to awaken the Dead Sinner that you were. 2nd, if God has begun the work of Sanctification, this too is descriptive of making you more like Christ! May God make this so for each of us today!!!
