“The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; Who can understand it?” Jeremiah 17:9
In My Humble Opinion, this is one of the Most Important Verses in the Bible. It helps us understand Sin, Man, and Sanctification. Consider the 3 elements of the heart:
1. “more deceitful than all else”. More than Satan or the World.
2. “desperately sick”. Can mean Incurable or Deathly Sick.
3. “Who can understand it?”. A Rhetorical Question; No One but God.
This is the State of every Human Heart today until converted and why the Gospel is SO VITAL! Until New Life is granted, this Heart will stay in a state of Sin. Once we are converted, God begins to slowly, and often painfully, change our Heart to be more and more like Christ’s. But we need to be aware!!! It is still an Enemy we fight until our Final Day!
