Read James 3-5

“You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” James 4:4

As I stated yesterday, James grew up with Jesus for an Older Brother. That helps put everything he writes in perspective. Because he saw a Perfect Man live before him and keep the Law perfectly, he did not have any romantic notion of being able to do likewise. He KNEW he was a Sinner. Jesus revealed that Every Day by showing him what he was not. He WAS a Sinner and Needed Saving, but once he was saved, he knew what it meant to Live as a Christian!

And so, James Is Blunt! Here in Today’s Verse, he asks a Rhetorical Question that makes an Unmistakable Statement directed at every Christian. If we are followers of Jesus, we need to take this to heart. Jesus said, “you cannot love God and Riches”, Paul asked “what fellowship has light with darkness?”, and John warned “If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” Where do we stand? Have we asked ourselves these searching Questions? Have we considered these Hard Sayings? This is why the Gate is Small, and the Way is Narrow, that leads to Life!!!
