Read Isaiah 45-48

“Thus says the Lord to Cyrus His anointed,” Isaiah 45:1a

Some 150 years before Cyrus was born, Isaiah writes about him. In Chapter 44 he says, “It is I who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd! And he will perform all My desire.’ And he declares of Jerusalem, ‘She will be built,’ and of the temple, ‘Your foundation will be laid.” In today’s Verse He calls him “His anointed”. Don’t you consider this Fascinating?

Previously, He brought Nebuchadnezzar to his knees confessing “I praise, exalt and honor the King of heaven” and later directed the heart of King Ahasuerus to marry a Jew and appoint her cousin Mordecai to 2nd in command of Persia. This should give us pause when we would look indifferently to those He chooses today!!!
