“Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” Genesis 6:5
This assessment of early Mankind is so severe it’s startling! Consider each of these: “Every”; not just some, or most, but EVERY! “Intent”; their inward Desire or Inclination. “Thoughts”; not just their actions, or their speech, but their very THOUGHTS! “Only Evil Continually”; this doesn’t leave room for any good, or, that it was just occasionally. But ONLY, and ALWAYS, EVIL!!!
How did this happen? How could Man become so wicked? Here are some thoughts from this section of Genesis. Evil men today live less than 100 years; then they’re gone. Their children? The same. But the Evil Men of Noah’s time lived almost 1,000 years. That’s a long time to be wicked! Add to that their children living the same length of time, being raised by Wicked and Ungodly parents. And then add those after them; I think you get the picture. What Absolute Darkness ruled and reigned back then!
Let us give thanks, that though today is Dark, it’s not as Dark as it could be!
