“Behold, you are to them like a sensual song by one who has a beautiful voice and plays well on an instrument; for they hear your words but they do not practice them.” Ezekiel 33:32
God is describing the people who gather to listen to Ezekiel. They enjoyed it and were eager to hear. He says earlier; they would say to each other, “‘Come now and hear what the message is which comes forth from the Lord.’” He likens them to those that listened to a Singer or those that played Music, as if they were going to a Concert or a Recital. However, their desire to hear, and that they did so, was not enough. What they needed to do was Obey what they heard, but instead we are told; “they do not practice them”!
This reminds me of Jesus words regarding the 2 Builders. They both had the willingness, the tools, the materials, the ability, and were able to finish their houses. But only one survived when the Storm came. What was the difference? The same as those that heard Ezekiel! They did “not practice them”! The warning is clear as James has said, “Faith without Works is DEAD”!
