“During that night the king could not sleep so he gave an order to bring the book of records, the chronicles, and they were read before the king.” Esther 6:1
I love the story of Esther! As I said yesterday, it’s like reading a script to a Movie! Several plots unfold, interweaving a suspenseful tale of the Good against the Bad. On the Good Side, you have Mordecai and Esther, and on the Bad Side, Haman and his supportive relatives. Though initially, King Ahasuerus seems like one of the Bad Guys, he comes out very much as one of the Good.
But it’s also the Tale of God showing His Sovereign control over all things. Even a King’s sleeping patterns! In Today’s Verse we read that King Ahasuerus can’t sleep, so he gets up, tries to be productive, and “gave an order to bring the book of records, the chronicles, and they were read before the king”. And low and behold, what does he hear? Something that needs his attention! Accident, Chance, or Fortune, that this happened? Or is this the Supernatural intervention by Almighty God?
Let this encourage our hearts today; that our God Reigns over all things, even whether we get a “Good Night’s Sleep” or not!
