“He said to me, “O Daniel, man of high esteem, understand the words that I am about to tell you and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling.” Daniel 10:11
As I finished Daniel today, I was struck with the similarities of both he, and John the Apostle. Daniel is called “man of high esteem” and John, the Disciple “whom Jesus loved”. They were both quite young when they began their ministry and quite old when they ended. They both had similar, and quite alarming, Visions.
The one trait that stands out, however, is their humility and unassuming nature. We may not be able to choose “when” we come to Christ, or “what” type of ministry we will serve Him in, but we can purpose to be Humble. As Jesus said, “So you too, when you do all the things which are commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.'” May that be so of us!!!
