“In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.” Daniel 2:44
At the beginning of this Chapter, we’re told of Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream and his desire to know its interpretation. Daniel becomes the savior of the “wise men” of Babylon and provides both the Dream and its Interpretation. Today’s Verse is the conclusion of that Dream, and we, in historical hindsight recognize that “kingdom” to be the Kingdom of God, or the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Consider that last phrase, “it will itself endure forever” and what that entails historically. The 4 greatest kingdoms of the world, would conquer, prosper, and succumb in successive manner. All the while, a small group of God’s People would become a Rock “made without hands”, become a Mountain, cover the whole earth, and then…remain to this day! This gives some perspective to Jesus’ words “I will build My Church and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it”! Are you part of that Rock? Then you have NOTHING to fear!!!
