“But Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and having won over the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.” Acts 14:19
So much for Popular Opinion! God had just used Paul and Barnabas to heal a man, “lame from his mother’s womb, who had never walked”. This event rose such a stir that the local Priest of Zeus wanted to offer up Sacrifices right then and there and worship these two. We’re not told how much time expired after Paul had preached the Gospel to them, but the next thing we read is the Verse above.
Sadly, this is the World’s View of Us, the Church, and the Gospel. We’re more than happy for you to heal our sick, and raise our dead; but as far as Heart Change goes, we’ll just use these Rocks instead to show you how grateful we really are! Let us never expect “The World” to act and treat us as if they are “The Same As Us”! They are God’s Enemies and will always treat us as such!
