“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;” 2 Timothy 4:7
Many believe that this 2nd Letter to Timothy was written while Paul was awaiting his execution. He even states in Verse 6 that, “I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come” so it could very well be true. A lot could be said about a person’s thoughts right before death and the importance associated with them. Certainly this seems true of Paul’s to his “son” Timothy, and should be how we hear them as well!
Every true Christian is engaged in Battle. Whether you are in the Ministry, like Paul, or a Janitor at a warehouse, you are fighting the same Fight he fought! It begins from the moment you wake up until you go to bed at night. Not one of God’s People is exempt. This War I speak of is the one against the World, the Flesh, and the Devil! If you underestimate its seriousness, then you may already be defeated. When you first open your eyes at the dawn of a new day, you will be challenged with every effort to Take up your Cross, Deny yourself, and Follow Jesus. How will you fare today? May God give you a Victorious Day!
