Read 2 Chronicles 34-36

“There had not been celebrated a Passover like it in Israel since the days of Samuel the prophet;” 2 Chronicles 35:18a

As mentioned before, there are many Anomalies in the Bible where things just don’t make sense. We have Good Kings that come from Bad Fathers and Bad Kings that come from Good Fathers. Today we have another one of those. We saw yesterday, Manasseh was a Wicked King that repented, returned to God, and tired to undo all the Evil he had one. His son though, Amon, would become a Wicked King as well, but only reign 2 years. He would be put to death by “his servants” and his 8 year old son Josiah would ascend the Throne. And like Hezekiah, he too would do “right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the ways of his father David”.

Josiah, the last of the Good Kings, was the most fervent in his desire to please God and bring his people back to Him. Today’s Verse makes that abundantly clear in their Celebration of the Passover. Since Samuel, “there had not been”! Not David, not Solomon, not Hezekiah! None of the Kings! Had celebrated the Passover like King Josiah had!!!

When we consider what is at the root of this, is it not a total abandonment to Keeping God’s Word? Yes, David was a Man after God’s own heart; Yes, Solomon sacrificed more animals than could be numbered; Yes, Hezekiah kept the Passover for 2 weeks once; but Never had it been celebrated like this! NEVER! Let Josiah’s Zeal be an example to all of us of “how” we should Honor His Word, and thus, Worship Him!!!
