“and commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers and to observe the law and the commandment.” 2 Chronicles 14:4
It’s been just 20 years since King Solomon has ruled. Already, the Nation has been plunged back into Idolatry. We’ve seen the failure of a son that King Rehoboam had been. His son, Abijah, was not much better. Now, his great grandson, King Asa, has begun to reign. Normally, we would expect another King to rise up and become Evil and rule accordingly; much like the Kings in the Northern Kingdom. But we don’t.
We are told that he “did good and right in the sight of the Lord his God”. This not only meant he had personal heart revival, but he would also make an attempt to revive his Nation. In Today’s Verse we read, he “commanded” his people to seek God and obey Him. His first and primary duty, as his people’s Leader, was to Lead them back to God. King Asa would exemplify the same spirit that his great grandfather, Solomon had when his Prayer was “Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people”. And this he did!
Today, we have many King Asa’s doing the same thing. They might be our Pastors, Sunday School Teachers, YouTube Preachers, or those in Books we read. Are we listening?
