“What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?” 1 Corinthians 4:7b
In addressing the Church at Corinth (one that in many ways reflects ours today), of the many issues he will deal with, Paul first begins with their Immaturity and Pride. In order to correct their Quarrels, Jealousy, and Strife, he asks them these two very pointed questions! “What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?” Paul was never one to mince words, and here he clearly displays that. He took that Ax that John the Baptist spoke of and struck right at the Roots of their Spiritual Trees!
In the same way, we need to consider the weight and significance it has for us in our Day. Truly, what do you have that God has not given to you? Physically, Mentally, Spiritually? Is there anything that has emanated just from you? NO!!! It Is All From God! This does 2 things; it totally Humbles us, and, it gives God all Glory! May God open our eyes to see this more and more each day!
