“For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,” Colossians 1:13
If you’ve read the Book of Colossians, you’ll know that this was one of the Churches Paul did not personally visit, at least at the writing of this Letter. Nevertheless, he loved them and wanted them to know of his love and concern for them. You can see this expressed in the manner in which he defends the Gospel they have embraced. Consider Today’s Verse. This is how Paul describes Salvation to the Church in Colossae. What a graphic picture! We were in prison and enslaved to Satan himself; with no hope! But God came. He opened the door, broke the chains, and brought us out.
But it didn’t stop there. He didn’t leave us to ourselves. He brought us to “the kingdom of His beloved Son”; to live under His rule and authority! And Paul sees himself in this story. Notice the word “us”. Is this how you see “your” Christianity? Does this describe “your” Former State? Are you part of this “New” Kingdom and does Christ “Rule” over you? This is what it means to be a Christian and to “Believe” in Christ!
