“But as he was discussing righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix became frightened and said, “Go away for the present, and when I find time I will summon you.”” Acts 24:25
As we make our way through Acts, we come to the period of the Apostle Paul’s ministry where he has been saved from the Jews and imprisoned by the Romans. In Today’s Verse, Paul is engaged in conversation with Felix, the Roman Governor, and his wife Drusilla, a Jewess. We are told in Verse 24 that they had sent for him and “heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus”. I am fascinated that the Holy Spirit chose these 3 items (righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come) to describe “what he discussed” with them. What about “believing”, or “receiving”, or “praying”? NO!
What the Holy Spirit used are terms that demand “Repentance”!!! So once again I ask, “Why is this missing in Gospel Preaching today?” When was the last time you heard a Pastor discuss Faith in Christ and then bring up these terms to discuss what that “Faith in Christ” looks like? It begs the question!
