“Then He brought me by way of the north gate to the front of the house; and I looked, and behold, the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord, and I fell on my face.” Ezekiel 44:4
This is the 6th time Ezekiel tells us, “I fell on my face”. There is no one else in the Bible that does so as often. Why is that? Well, 4 times we are told that he saw “the glory of the Lord”, and twice, the Judgement of God; but they both involved God’s Special Presence and had the instantaneous reaction of “falling prostrate”. When God’s Holy Nature and Character is revealed, this is the kind of result that accompanies it!
I believe this is a missing Ingredient in today’s Gospel and why we don’t see more Ezekiels. Instead, we have many confessing to “know” God, but living as if they do not. They have not seen God’s Glory during the preaching, or heard of His Judgement in its proclamation. Otherwise, they would have “fallen on their faces” in repentance and truly found the “Good News” that the Gospel signifies.
How do you interpret these last chapters’ measurements ? Very explicit & by what I read the Temple is huge , larger than the entire ancient mount on which the city set. Obvious symbolism and mirrors Revelation 21 . Is there meaning in the measurements ?
I asked a Pastor about this once, and his answer was that it was to encourage the Jews that remained regarding their future. That it was not a real Temple, just words of encouragement. I think that may be part of the answer, but I think there’s more than that. But what that is, I couldn’t tell you!
