Read Genesis 48-50

“So Joseph died at the age of one hundred and ten years; and he was embalmed and placed in a coffin in Egypt.” Genesis 50:26

No,…I have no profound wisdom or insight into this verse today! But, this is the last verse of Genesis, where I have journeyed so far in my Bible reading. One of my great burdens has been to see more Christians read their Bibles Daily. Part of this is born out of the fact that I’ve encountered many that don’t. It is one of the main reasons why I have started this Blog. The main reason I make comments on these Verses is to give the Reader encouragement and hope that “they too” can read through their entire Bible in One Year. If a “Nobody” like me can do it, certainly others can do the same. Below are other Comments I have made on Facebook in years past on this Day:

As I stated on Jan 1st, “I plan on making observations and comments as I read through this year.” My thoughts and postings are meant to be a help and encouragement to those of you that read along with me. As Job said, “I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.” May that be true for us as well!

15 days into the Year and I’m at the end of Genesis today. For the last several years, my pace has been 10 chapters every 3 days. This gets me to the end of Revelation mid December. And why do this? In Matthew 7 we are told “everyone who hears these words of Mine and ACTS ON THEM”. Jesus was giving His Disciples instruction on Life and Judgement. We NEED to know what Jesus’ Words are in order to “act on them”. I read daily, so I KNOW what those Words are. May God help us and give us more Grace as we seek His Kingdom and Righteousness!!!

  1. Thank you for your encouragement and insight. I have been keeping up with you and definitely intend to continue doing so. Prayerfully asking that my heart and mind will be open to something new and deeper understanding.

  2. I love the Joseph saga! One truth that jumped out to me when reading this several years ago was that in his death he gave glory to his God. He fully believed that God would bring His people out of Egypt and had his body waiting for that time.

I think at that time, I was dealing with a family member who had committed suicide and the contrast between the immense faith of Joseph and the darkness of suicide impressed itself on me. Even in our death we can glorify our God. Our hope in God can speak to the generations that come after.
