“The chief jailer did not supervise anything under Joseph’s charge because the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made to prosper.” Genesis 39:23
What a Paradox we have in Today’s Verse. Joseph, hated and despised by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused of attempted Rape, thrown into Jail, and yet STILL Prospers! How can that be? Most of us would be wallowing in Self Pity because of all the adversity and hardships, or given up altogether! But not Joseph. Why is that? “Because the Lord was with him”! Well isn’t the Lord with us? That’s a Good Question.
Because the Bible teaches us “everything” we need to know about this Life and “how” to Live it (see 2 Peter 1:3), we can find this answer if we search a bit. So, consider this:
James tells us if we “draw near to God, He will draw near to us”. What is inferred by that? That the Lord will be “with us”. So, that’s a start. David tells us in Psalm 1, “Blessed” is the man that meditates in the Word both day and night and “WHATEVER” he does, he Prospers”! Now this isn’t some Special Formula that if we do it, will always work. But as a General Principal, if we will take the time to come before God, without distraction, read His Word, then meditate on it during the day, we can expect what we do to “Prosper”. This sounds a lot like Morning Devotions, with purposeful reflection, doesn’t it? May God make it so!
