“Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15
As the Gospel of John is unique to the other Gospel Accounts, so too are John’s Epistles different from Paul, Peter and James. If you’ve read them, you know what I’m talking about. For instance, there is “no salutation” or introduction, his subject matter is unique, and he has an almost “cryptic” way of communicating his varied concerns. But as you do read through them, just as his Gospel Record, there are several thoughts that are clearly set forth. Today’s Verse would be one of them!
Consider what John is saying here in his Plain and Simple Way; if we love the world “the love of the Father is not in him”. Now, ask yourself the Questions; What is the “World”, and,…Do I Love It? This is Life and Death folks! If we get this Wrong, NOTHING else matters. We will be one of the Many on Judgement Day expecting to hear the words “Enter In”, but instead are told “Depart”. May God give us Eyes to See and Ears to Hear!!!
Excellent very true thoughts. I fear for so many that seem to be accepting and becoming a part of the wickedness of this world. It is a fearful thing. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Sally!
